1.Encourage composition on the piano (pg. 44)
2.Listen and identify music (pg. 44) look up the piece Rob Decker mentioned that was composed to show off each instrument section.
3.Listen and identify different music periods (pg 44) Baroque, Classical, Romantic.
4.Everyone should sing! (pg. 59)
5.Piano has many benefits (pg 63) and some negative (pg 64). Biggest drawback is limited group work (e.g teamwork).
6.All vocalists should play piano (pg. 64)
7.Some ballpark suggestions for instrument ages (pg. 84):
a.Private Vocal Lessons
i.Girls – 12 to 14 years old
ii.Boys – 15 to 16 years old
b.Piano – 3 to 4 years old

Like I learned in the Fish! Book I read, you need to determine to bring your attitude to work. This is because of a psychology of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias. There is a real reason for no complaining – http://www.cbc.ca/news/viewpoint/vp_mallick/20080331.html. If you need to let out your frustration I have found Tae Kwon Do works well. Intro – Amazing Statistics. Recommended Books:
Michael – Raising Cain: Protecting the emotional life of boys
Michael Gurian – The minds of Boys
Chapter 1 – Interesting that one school found that boys & girls really started separating (in many ways) around 4th grade. But some differences appeared much sooner.
Chapter 2 – There are admittedly more physiological problems with young boys but still this doesn’t account for all of the differences seen in boys. Suicide stats for boys are alarming! http://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard/ltt/results2004/
Chapter 4 – Very emotionally charged up to this point. I agree that some preschools are unrealistic in their expectations, but I also think too many parents send their kids away, continue with their careers and are not engaged with their kids.
