I have developed a lot of UI's. Everyone has their own opinion and it is very subjective. When everyone sees a nice UI they know it but getting there is very opinionated. Well here is a least one objective thing: Speed. It is a pet peeve of mine that people say something is too slow but when I ask them for the requirement of time they don't have one. Here is a law (Weber's Law - http://www.usd.edu/psyc301/WebersLaw.htm) – That states basically if you add more than 20% of time to a UI then the end user will “see” it or perceive it as slower.

I went on a quest to find a mouse click automation tool for testing UIs. Ideally this tool would be multi-platform and Open Source.
I ran across a great list of Open Source tools from thoughtworks:
http://testing.thoughtworks.com/files/Open-source%20Testing%20tools.pdf
I was able to find many free tools that work on Windows:

But I found one Open Source tool that works only on windows:

I also found a keyboard scripting tool that is Open

What is the compatibility of the public API of .Net 3.5 and Mono? NDepend to the rescue. Another great idea I wish I would have thought of. A brilliant use of a tool for something it may not have been designed for necessarily.

The Wisdom of Crowds
James Surowiecki
http://www.amazon.com/Wisdom-Crowds-James-Surowiecki/dp/0385721706
Introduction
The opening illustration of the wisdom of crowds guessing the weight of cattle was a little bit of a let down. Fortunately, the author even admitted to this not being great evidence for the wisdom of crowds and also acknowledged that some crowds can be bad (like during riots, etc...).
But some of his evidence was startling! He recommend a book Blind Man's Bluff by Sherry Sontag & Christopher Drew about a submarine location that sounded very interesting.
Chapter 1
The 4 conditions of a wise crowd: (pg 10)
1.Diversity of Opinion
2.Independence
3.Decentralization
4.Aggregation of private decisions to a collective decision
(I couldn't help but recognize the parallels with open source)
I knew people would bet on anything, but the author gave examples of people betting on things that I had no idea about (from Hollywood movies and awards to Washington elections) and how t

Too bad that MS didn't just use NAnt, but that is water under the bridge. I have relented to using MSBuild because there is no work in keeping the Visual Studio Solution and Project files in sync with you automated build.
