Web Services Security
A while ago a co-worker (are you out there Tom? :) ) Showed me Ruby. I thought wow that is really cool for a scripting language. When I met Sam Ruby – the cool Web services guy from IBM - he gave a demo in python. I told him I thought of all people he should be using Ruby :).
Well I thought I know perl and if I really need to do scripting I will use perl or vbscript. (I know this is going to generate hate mail I can just sense it!) But I put it in the back of my mind to learn and pay with some day. Then I ran into this: Ten Things a Java Programmer Should Know About Ruby and of course they all apply to C# as well.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, one of my favorite authors (Dave Thomas from http://www.pragmaticprogrammer.com/) has written a book on Ruby: Programming Ruby. With so many languages popping up it is hard to know what is worth spending time on. But after reading one of the most original blog posts ever, I think it is settled, I am going to have to learn some Ruby.
