  The positive post PPC6700

I noticed that I have posted a lot of negative posts lately.  Do not let this fool you.  The Sprint PPC 6700 is the best phone on the planet.  LockerGnome definitely agrees.

Here are things they got right.

-The battery life is better in Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 and persistent storage is a must!

-Receiving an email over EVDO is seamless and easy to use.  Eat your heart out BlackBerry

-Charging over USB.  I only need to carry this one cable and I can charge to any PC at my clients office.

-USB 2.0 for MUCH faster file copying.

-Getting a phone call while listening to podcasts.   This has never given me an error at all.  The music fades the phone call happens the music resumes.  No problem.  I really thought they would get it wrong like the iPod killer rumor.  Glad I was wrong.

-One handed use is great

I have blogged a little about the multi-use joystick thingy on the PPC6700.  Here are some apps that make use of the joystick.

Media player

The joystick controls the volume (up/down) and the playlist (left/right) and the play/pause (push the button)

Email

The joystick (up and down) and the OK button together can effectively navigate emails.  But the joystick left and right changes to other email accounts.  (Including the hotmail one that MSN automatically creates – grrr)

Startmenu

The windows key and joystick work well for switching between applications.  Even the today screen can be navigated with the joystick.  The killer application would be integration into Magic Button.

Camera

Softbuttons

The softbuttons seem to be very good at finding the shortcuts and most used options of a menu.

The OK button vs Phone end

The OK buttons seems to be the best “minimize” button.  I used to use the red end phone button.  This actually works well most of the time, UNLESS you are on the phone at the time.  (Sorry Honey I didn’t mean to hang up on you, honest!)
